Painter Uses Art Materials to Create Big Cities
Painter Neil Dawson has explained how he uses art materials to create exciting city scenes in his latest work.
Neil Dawson's most recent paintings, featured in his first touring exhibition NY:LON, display a number of recognisable urban landscapes within the iconic cities of New York and London.
The Big Apple and England's capital were created with art materials by Dawson because of the famous landmarks and their reputation as the some of the most energetic places to live and visit in the world.
Dawson's painting style has been likened to the pointillism technique of impressionist artist Seurat because vibrant city landscapes are created with art materials in a mixture of strong primary colours.
He said: "I have always loved cities and find myself constantly drawn to their colour, vibrancy and energy - they are both infectious and consuming."
Most of Dawson's paintings portray New York and London at night time because he claims that the two cities come alive after dark in a spectacular array of contrasting colours accentuated by flashing and fluorescent lights created by traffic and buildings.
Dawson added: "For me they take on a special atmosphere and excitement at night and I love trying to capture the lights and movement of a city after dark."
The artist claims that his NY:LON series of paintings can trigger emotional responses which transport a person to the location they view, especially if they already have a connection with the city in question.
"It is my hope as an artist to capture a part of their unique atmosphere on canvas and to spark memories," he added.
Dawson said that the changing nature of both cities allows him to paint an aura of indistinctness that lets the viewer come to their own conclusion after viewing each individual artwork.
He said: "I also try and paint with a sense of ambiguity to allow for individual interpretation and, as cities are always in a state of flux, perceptions of these places will never be indentical."
Neil Dawson claims to have held a passion for art since childhood but he became disillusioned while studying the subject at college because he did not feel the need to justify his work to others.
It took a period of extended travelling abroad for Dawson to rediscover his desire to paint because he felt the need to translate his exciting experiences to canvas.
Dawson uses photographs as the starting point of every painting he creates with art materials.

Basis Of Visual Art
Art has long been a source of peace and prosperity for many people in this world. Visual arts are a big draw for many as they create the aesthetic appeal to the nature of the artist that most find fascinating. Knowing the artist on a more personal level through their work is how many will associate a great artist from one who lacks confidence and talent.
The visual arts encompass things like sculpture, painting and so on. The basis of visual arts is that of productions meant to entertain through the eyes without use of song, speech or writing. The artist is trying to make a point by the concept he or she has put together without having to speak about the topic. So in truth the artist is telling a story by using the visual images and how they transform into words in our brain. The feelings aroused when a person sees a particular piece of art is the idea behind visual art.
Throughout the history of the world there has been visual art in one form or another. Even the early days of man have shown us that we were interested in communicating with one another through art. Cave drawings depict hunts and so on that we as the modern day people attempt to interpret to learn more about the times. Art was thought to be the only form of communication that was available making it more appealing to the other people alive at the time.
When you move forward through history you see that visual art has played a major role in the culture of the countries around the world. This comes on the heels of the fact that many artists never realized any kind of fame or fortune during their lifetime as their work did not become appreciated until centuries later.
Case and point of this would be Vincent Van Gough. He was plagued by his own insecurity and addictions. His work was outside of the norm and hence it was not accepted by the art community of his time. Van Gough would spend his relatively short life painting but never selling. Today there is nothing shy of an extreme demand for his work. Examples of Van Gough's paintings sell in the millions of dollar range and are highly sought after by serious art collectors.
The other side of the coin would be those artists that found fame and fortune during their life time and still have a huge following to this day. Leonardo Da Vinci is a prime example. Da Vinci was a highly popular painter and sculpture in his time and he had the attention of the royal family which gave him carte blanche on his work. Besides art he was known as one of the greatest thinkers who actually invented many of the things we use today though he never built any of his own. Da Vinci was also a highly sought after teacher of the arts and many masters owe their talent to his schooling.
Visual arts make up a large portion of the artistic world and provide solace for those with tormented souls. All one has to do is visit an art gallery and learn to understand the way that artists view the world and interpret it for us.

Great Paintings $30 Great Paintings is a sumptuous, visual guided tour of 66 of the world's greatest paintings. Ranging from works by Zhang Zeduan, a 12th-century Chinese master, to modern masterpieces by Rothko and Anselm Kiefer, the paintings are arranged chronologically, providing an excellent visual introduction to the history of art. The book starts with how to "read" a painting. Annotated paintings show how to identify the key elements of a picture. The major part of the book is a magnificent visual gallery of iconic paintings. The story behind each painting is fully explained, unlocking the often hidden meanings of symbols and details. Each painting is then analyzed visually, using pull-out details and overlays, to help the reader understand the key features, composition, and techniques. Artists' biographies and features on historical and social context explore how landmark paintings have been influenced by what has gone before and how they go on to inspire what comes after them. Reading Great Paintings is like being taken around a gallery by a personal guide who helps you to look at paintings-both familiar and new-in fresh and fascinating ways. Want to Be Fashion Savvy - Get Reading Glasses
Back in the old days, some people had reading glasses that were painted. These glasses were very popular and unique, with their own touch of artistic talent. Truthfully, they were just a pair of cheap plastic frames with a few designs on them, but that didn't take away from their coolness.
They represented an individual style or unique taste, as well as the fact that everyone else was wearing them too, so you stood out as being cool among a crowd of people and you blended in with the crowd as well. But times have changed -fast forward to decades later.
Today, the styles are now current with the fashion of the times, and the ones that are available are trendy.
Once someone reaches age 45, they generally need a pair of reading glasses for correction. But just because they are getting older in age doesn't mean they don't want to be hip and trendy. And there are now innovative fashions and help to meet those desires to be hip and trendy.
These styles include everything from clothes to sunglasses. Now, you don't have to purchase dull and drag-looking glasses from your local drugstore, but now you can actually purchase designer, and hip-looking glasses for reading.
Needing a little extra reading correction is not something to be ashamed of. Most of the over 40 age group actually enjoys needing to have reading correction. With cool, hip colored reading glass frames, and snazzy new styles, we are quite overwhelmed at the newest styles.
There are many varieties to choose from that will fit your lifestyle. For example, did you know that there are magnifying lenses the size of a credit card that fit correctly, in your wallet. The card's flamboyant designs and embedded stones make them a popular new item in the market.
Reading glasses sans the frame, is an example of something else that has been brought back. These wonderful accessories are the perfect addition for that trendy man or woman. Businesses are more aware that there is a market out there for glasses for reading that don't look like old and out of date. People don't want their clothing, handbag, or cars to be hip and not their reading glasses -and accessory that is sometimes worn very often.
Reading glass frames come in great color and other designs as well. There is an online boutique where you can find, where you can find all unique styles of reading eyeglasses.
TV characters such as Clark Kent and others have had reading glass frames designed from the styles they wore on television.
Just like designer handbags, reading glasses have become a fashion accessory. Replace your outdated metal frames and your hand-painted trendy reading glasses, with a new updated and hip pair of reading glasses that will make heads turn. It's time to become fashion forward.

Morse Code and the Tragic story behind it's invention
Morse code is an electrical coding system used to transmit textual messages as a sequence of "dots" and "dashes" expressed through on-off lights or tones. The Morse code system was named after the American Samuel F.B. Morse who as a matter of fact was not a scientist. Indeed, Morse was a painter and the reason he focused on improving the means of long distance communication was a sad one. In 1825 Morse was away from home, working on a painting job, when he received a message delivered by a horse courier that his wife is very sick and dying. Although he left immediately, by the time he arrived at home, his wife had already died. This tragic event triggered him to abandon painting and turn to science.
Morse spent the next several years researching electromagnetism and studied the early versions of other electrical telegraphs already developed by other people. By 1837 he had his own version of an electrical telegraph which he developed with the help of Leonard Gale, a chemistry professor from New York University, and Alfred Vail - a young inventor who was able to support Morse not only with ideas but also with financial resources. Morse had difficult time trying to patent and finance his telegraph but at the end – in 1948, the US Congress approved the development of an experimental line between Baltimore, MD and Washington, DC. Less than 10 years later, in 1951, the Morse code was officially adopted as the standard for European telegraphy.
Morse code has been a primary way of radio communication in aviation and marine navigation for more than a century and is still in use today, mostly by amateur radio operators. The reason Morse code became so popular is its simplicity. It uses only two "characters" – "dot" and "dash" to encode letters and numbers. For example, the letter "M" is encoded as "- -"while the letter "N" is represented by "_.". In addition, the Morse code was developed with efficiency in mind. The most commonly used letters have the shortest encoding. Thus, "E" is spelled out with just "." and "T" is just "-". Once you learn how to spell out each letter then you can virtually send out any message you want. For example, one of the most famous messages sent – the call for help, i.e. SOS, is spelled in Morse code as "…---…"
In spite of its simplicity, however, learning Morse code can be challenging. Just like Latin language is a language meant to be read and written, but not spoken, Morse code is a language meant to be seen or heard, not read and written. Thus, it is important to use some kind of Morse code tool or translator that can help you hear and visualize the "dots" and "dashes" so you can learn them the way you can use them. Check out how SailingJoy.com http://wwww.sailingjoy.com/morse can help you learn Morse code faster.
